Tips for Summer
Kite Feedlot provides site-specific hourly weather forecasts across all subscriptions.
The weather forecast is used in the calculation of both the HLI and AHLU for every site. But how important is it that the calculations use an hourly forecast in comparison to a daily forecast?
Hourly forecasts provide a breakdown of various meteorological variables, including temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and humidity, for each hour for the next seven days. We also calculate the HLI and AHLU for every hour and display the result to support the understanding of the evolving weather for each location.
Having your Cattle Heat Risk calculated using an hourly weather forecast, contributes to a better representation of your HLI and AHLU. Particularly to the AHLU as this is an accumulation of the heat risk which can change rapidly over short periods. And with that, you have more opportunities to better manage heat at your feedlot.
