About Katestone

A Message from the Founder and CEO

Weather has always fascinated me even from an early age growing up in the tiny town of Nimmitabel, perched on top of the Australian Alps. Dad and I never missed the weather report.

Being a trout fly fishing guide, Dad always needed to know what was going on with the weather. Would there be a seabreeze today? And if so, what time might it arrive? The arrival of the seabreeze always ruined the fishing!

My fascination with weather grew and led me to study atmospheric science at University. After university, I spent the next 20 years working as an air quality consultant and growing my business called Katestone Environmental.

Along with my business partner, Simon Welchman (an engineer not a scientist!) we built a successful consulting business that works across Australia and around the world. We recently supported an employee to move back to Ireland and set up Katestone Ireland Pty Ltd.

In 2018, Katestone formed Weather Intelligence Pty Ltd to help industry to manage weather risk and to allow me to pursue my passion for the weather. We’re not trying to take over the world but we do aim to provide exceptional services within our core areas of expertise – air quality, odour, meteorology and climate.

I would like to thank the feedlot industry for the inspiration to develop our weather risk company. I thoroughly enjoy working with feedlots and look forward to servicing your weather risk needs for many years to come.
